Back As part of the Swiss–Latvian Cooperation Programme project “Advancement of Paediatric Cancer Care at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital”, the Children’s Clinical University Hospital (Children’s Hospital) has signed a cooperation agreement with Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), one of Europe’s leading university medical centres.
The partnership aims to strengthen paediatric oncology care in Latvia by drawing on international expertise and advancing modern, patient-centred approaches to treatment and care.
The cooperation agreement provides for regular knowledge exchange between Latvian and Swiss specialists, joint training activities, expert consultations and study visits, as well as the transfer of expertise in paediatric oncology, long-term follow-up care, and other key areas of the project.
This partnership will provide Children’s Hospital specialists with valuable opportunities to enhance their professional knowledge by learning from the experience of Swiss colleagues and gaining insight into internationally recognised models of care. At the same time, the knowledge acquired and the solutions implemented through this collaboration will contribute to further improving the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care of children and adolescents with cancer in Latvia, ensuring access to increasingly high-quality and modern healthcare services.
International cooperation is one of the key prerequisites for the sustainable development of paediatric oncology care in Latvia. The partnership with Lausanne University Hospital will enable the transfer of best international practices and strengthen the Children’s Hospital’s capacity to provide children and adolescents with cancer access to world-class care as close to home as possible.
