On May 24, the family festival “TrādiRīga” will take place in Riga’s Victory Park (Uzvaras parks), where the Swiss–Latvian Cooperation Programme, together with the State Education Development Agency (VIAA), will introduce visitors to industry-based education. Industry associations – the Council for Cooperation of Agricultural Organisations, the Latvian Association of Power Engineers and Power Construction Engineers, and the Chefs’ Club – together with companies Elektrum and Sadales tīkls, as well as vocational education institutions, will give visitors the opportunity to experience various industries and professions get hands-on experience in the “Try On a Profession” (“Pielaiko profesiju”) zone.

 

Visitors will be able to test their skills in interactive energy activities – trying out the professions of electrician and electrical technician, taking part in the electrical loop challenge, and discovering how much energy can be generated by pedalling a bicycle. There will also be a chance to get hands-on experience with the professions of chef and gardener.

 

Students from Riga State Technical School (RVT) and Riga Art and Media School (RMMT) will invite visitors to try out the professions of photo, video, and sound operator, step into the role of a clothing designer, explore the profession of a chemist, and take a look into the world of woodworking.

 

The VIAA stand will also feature other initiatives implemented by the agency. The STARS platform, together with a career counsellor, will invite visitors to discover adult education opportunities and career development paths, while Erasmus+ will offer the chance to test knowledge in a memory game and learn more about the programme’s opportunities to go abroad for studies, internships, and exchange experiences.

 

Throughout the day, the festival stages will host concerts and performances for the whole family – featuring Kaut Kaili, Emilija, Fiņķis, Drumline Latvia, and many other artists.
