Procurement announced for remediation works to clean up historically polluted site in Aizkraukle.

The State Environmental Service has launched a procurement procedure for nationally significant remediation works in Aizkraukle. The remediation works are planned in the territory of the former reinforced-concrete plant in Aizkraukle, where long-standing pollution risks have threatened groundwater quality and the River Daugava.

The primary objective of the remediation works is to eliminate the source of pollution and prevent any further spread of contamination.

It is planned to reduce pollution emissions into groundwater and the Daugava River, as well as to establish a post-remediation monitoring system. This system will ensure long-term oversight of environmental processes, improve ecological quality, and mitigate risks to public health. The implementation of the works is scheduled for completion by October 31, 2029.

The aim of the procurement is to select a qualified and experienced service provider who will ensure the sustainable and safe remediation of the site contaminated with oil products.

A discussion with potential suppliers has been initiated within the framework of the procurement, therefore the State Environmental Service invites all interested suppliers to review the open tender documentation and its annexes in the Electronic Procurement System’s e-tendering subsystem: https://www.eis.gov.lv/EKEIS/Supplier/Procurement/161479

The procurement is being carried out within the framework of the programme component “Remediation of Historically Polluteded Site in Aizkraukle” under the Swiss – Latvian Cooperation Programme for 2019–2029. More detailed information about the project is available here.
