Back On 24 May 2026, the first family festival TrādiRīga took place in Victory Park (Uzvaras parks), where the State Education Development Agency of the Republic of Latvia (VIAA) together with partners organised activities in the “Try a Profession” zone. Participating partners included the Cooperation Council of Agricultural Organisations (LOSP), the Latvian Electrical Engineers and Energy Constructors Association (LEEA), Elektrum, Sadales tīkls, Pavāru Klubs, Re:Maize, Riga State Technical School, and Riga School of Art and Media.
Visitors had the opportunity to practically try out various professions and explore the world of careers, from culinary arts and horticulture to energy, design, videography, and chemistry. Together with industry professionals, company representatives, and vocational education institution staff, children, young people, and families took part in hands-on activities to learn more about the day-to-day realities of different professions.
During the festival, visitors could learn more about the mobility opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme, which gives vocational education students and educators the chance to gain international experience and develop skills abroad.
There was also strong interest in adult education opportunities and career support. Visitors explored the STARS platform, learning about skills development options, completed a career test, and found out about career counselling support.
For festival visitors, it was an opportunity to discover different sectors in one place, meet professionals, and try out skills hands-on, which may form the basis for future career choices.
The “Try a Profession” activity zone was developed in collaboration with sector partners, vocational education institutions, and employers, and was implemented with the support of the Swiss-Latvian Cooperation Programme, Erasmus+, and the STARS Platform, strengthening the link between vocational education and the labour market.
